ANSERIFORMES: Anatidae
Anas clypeata
I spent over two hours watching this bird, during which time it flew three times. Once when it and other ducks appeared alarmed by a bird of prey, once when it seemed they had had enough feeding and were heading off to rest for a while, and once, unfortunately, when disturbed by me.
On two of the occasions it flew towards me so at least I was able to get closer, if somewhat fleeting, views of it and to admire it in flight.
